Insights

On June 3-4-5, the 15th edition of the International Conference of Information Commissioners took place in Tirana, and for us, it was a privilege and pleasure to be the official sponsor of this event.

With great desire, we were part of this very important and significant event, which once again highlighted the challenges and opportunities for development that come along with modern technology and artificial intelligence, which can change the possibility of having immediate access to information and public data, although the latter presents us with other challenges, such as in the field of personal data protection.

“The right to be informed is the cornerstone of democracy, transparency, accountability, participation in decision-making, the fight against corruption, are principles that cannot be realized without access to information.” – were the words of the commissioner Mr. Besnik Dervishi, who promised unwavering commitment to promote the transparency of public authorities.

Later, Mr. Dervishi recalled once again how today, over 120 countries in the world have a legal framework that guarantees access to information, a fact that shows how our community has grown throughout these years and that civil society, the media, the world academic or all actors operating in this field, play an essential role in promoting transparency with their continuous contribution.

This event held in Tirana is a signal of the development of the legal framework that will improve transparency, access to information and services for the citizens of Albania, and for iute this is more than good news.
