Yesterday, the Albanian Microfinance Association and leaders of key industry companies invited journalists and media representatives to a press conference to address some achievements and economic challenges faced by microfinance, consequently affecting the Albanian economy. Among the speakers was Mr. Akan Ajdini, CEO of iute Albania, who emphasized the crucial role of microfinance in promoting economic empowerment.

In an open discussion with journalists, Mr. Ajdini highlighted the urgent need for support from the banking sector to stimulate the growth and impact of the microfinance sector. He pointed out that while traditional banks have a dominant position in the financial landscape, microfinance institutions like iute Albania play a decisive role in serving marginalized communities, which for many reasons remain excluded from the banking financial experience.

Mr. Ajdini also emphasized the challenges faced by microfinance companies in achieving financial sustainability, in line with their social mission.
